Oxfordshire homes have new local landlord as OCHA takes over

More than 150 households in Oxfordshire have a new, locally-based landlord after Oxford Citizens Housing Association, part of the GreenSquare Group, completed an acquisition of homes from The Riverside Group.
The 151 houses, flats and bungalows in Carterton – a mix of general needs rented, shared ownership and supported housing properties – were formally owned and managed by The Riverside Group, who manage properties nationwide and are based in Liverpool.
Riverside had been looking to transfer their properties in Carterton to a local housing association that already had properties in the area as part of a 'stock rationalisation' programme.
All residents of the 151 homes were told of the upcoming change of ownership at the end of 2009 and had the chance to meet OCHA staff and find out what new services will be offered at a recent residents event in the town.
“OCHA participated in a competitive tendering process for the properties and were delighted to win the bid based on the quality of service and price," said Andrew Smith, OCHA's managing director.
"Residents will see no changes to their tenancy agreements, but will hopefully see benefits from being part of a local housing association such as increased resident involvement events and regular visits from their housing officer."
James Hill, director of property strategy for The Riverside Group said: "The transfer to OCHA is part of our ongoing strategy to rationalise our stock holding to ensure more locally-based service provision occurs where appropriate. Full tenant consultation has occurred throughout the process and all parties are pleased with the outcome."
