MP drops in as Green office opens to public

MP opens Barbury House reception

Swindon South MP Robert Buckland was one of the first visitors to drop in to the newly-opened public reception at the Swindon offices of GreenSquare - the housing group that includes Westlea Housing and Oxford Citizens Housing Association.

As well as providing a Swindon headquarters for GreenSquare, Barbury House at Stonehill Green is now a local office for Westlea Housing residents whose homes are in the Swindon and Wootton Bassett area – providing easier access to neighbourhood housing staff who would otherwise be based further away in Chippenham.

The MP (pictured here with Swindon reception staff Maria Mazzotta and Mandy-Lee Perkins, GreenSquare chief executive David Ashmore, and board chair Hilary Gardner) also visited GreenSquare's 70-home development scheme at the former Westlea police station – being built just over the road from Barbury House.

GreenSquare recently won the 'Green Office Award' for Barbury House in the 2010 Corporate Green Awards, run by Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.

"We are delighted that our offices at Barbury House were picked out for special attention," said David Ashmore, Group chief executive. "These awards recognise local businesses that are making serious efforts to minimise their impact on the environment and we are proud of how much we did to achieve exactly that when opening our Swindon headquarters. Sustainability runs through all that we do at GreenSquare, whether that is through the development of our business and the quality of new homes; supporting the communities in which we work; or monitoring our impact on the world in which we all live."
