Local artist Baz Hurlow has provided a welcome splash of colour to building site hoardings at GreenSquare's new homes development at Pound Mead, Corsham.

Baz, who has been petitioning for a legal graffiti wall in Corsham for some time, accepted the invitation from Tidestone (GreenSquare's construction arm and lead contractor for this development) to create a mural across several separate board panels included in the fencing that surrounds the site.

The artist says his project will be completed in three phases. Work on phase one - covering four panels - took just under three days and depicts a countryside scene representing Wiltshire. "I have followed my design as precisely as I can, and am very happy with the end result!" said Baz.

The next phase of the design project will appear during the next few weeks when the remainder of the hoardings go up around the site. According to Baz Hurlow, it will consist of "a graffiti scene with clouds and the sun, making it look like it's the middle of the day".

The final section of the design has a building site theme to reflect the building work happening behind the hoarding panels. "It did take me a while to come up with this design, but I got there in the end and I’m hoping it should turn out brilliantly!"

Baz's enthusiasm for the project even rubbed off on Tidestone site manager Mike Page who tried his hand with one of the spray cans: "I think I should stick to the day job, but it was great fun to give it a go!" said Mike.

Tidestone started work on the Pound Mead development in Corsham in February. The finished development will consist of 43 three-bedroom and four-bedroom affordable homes and is due to complete in March 2012.
